American Blackbelly Sheep
American Blackbelly Sheep were developed in the United States from Barbados Blackbelly, Rambouillet. and wild Mouflon stock They usually retain the color and coat pattern of the Barbados Blackbelly and are often called "Barbados" but. instead of being polled, American Blackbelly rams are horned, The hornless and gentle ewes are well suited for agritourism, petting zoos or just pets. These particular sheep, before we purchased them, had been used to train herd dogs and were very nervous around people, but their flight zones diminished very quickly until we were hand feeding and ultimately petting them. Though these sheep are socialized very well with people. they continue to be wary and defensive in the presence of a dog.
